Ron Calhoun has been involved with the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope since it's inception over 30 years ago, as one of the founding members, instrumental in establishing this annual event that is now held around the world. He coined the phrase "Marathon of Hope."

Ron's family was one of the first residents of Byron in the early 1800's.

To honour Ron and all the volunteer work he has been involved with, a Commemorative Bench was unveiled. The bench is located near the Terry Fox Memorial Gardens in Greenway Park, by the Saturn Playground.
